Before GeoFeed checks countries
GeoFeed highlights posts and account suggestions on X from the regions and countries you choose. It uses only the Account based in country that X shows on each account’s About this account page.
What GeoFeed does on X
- For accounts visible on your screen that it has not checked recently, GeoFeed asks X for their About this account details. These requests go to X only, from the X tab you have open, using your existing X sign-in. To make them, GeoFeed reads X’s sign-in request headers and security cookie inside that tab. They are never stored and never sent anywhere except X.
- Requests are paced: at least 3 seconds apart and no more than 20 every 10 minutes in each X tab. They stop if X asks GeoFeed to slow down.
- GeoFeed also reads X’s own responses as your feed loads, in case they already include a country, and may download X’s own public script files from X’s servers to find the current request format.
What GeoFeed keeps
- Your GeoFeed settings, and for each checked account its X username, its country (or that none was given) and when it was checked.
- These stay in this browser’s extension storage. A country is rechecked after 7 days, a missing one after 6 hours, and entries are deleted after 30 days. “Clear local results” in the toolbar menu deletes them at any time.
What GeoFeed does not do
- It sends nothing to Pocket Giant or any other company, and contains no analytics or advertising.
- It does not post, like, repost, follow or message anyone.
- It never guesses a country from a name, photo, biography or written location.
If you choose not now, GeoFeed makes no About this account requests. It can still highlight an account when X’s own responses already include its country. You can change your mind from the toolbar menu.
